Do you think doctors can dance?! On Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, local doctors and their professional dance partners will square-off for a chance to win the coveted mirror ball trophy at the 1st Annual “Dancing With The Doctors” fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Follow each doctor's dancing journey on Facebook.
“Dancing with the Doctors” is produced by Studio One RI Dance Complex, in partnership with its presenting sponsor, Cat Country 98.1. Professional instructors from Studio One RI will work with each doctor individually to provide dance lessons and choreograph a routine that is tailored to each doctor’s style and talents.
The event will be held in The Grand Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI. The VIP reception featuring local celebrities, generous sponsors, exquisite hors d'oeuvres, and signature cocktails will kick off at 5pm, followed by the dinner reception. The competition will begin at 7:00pm. Guests will enjoy a fabulous dinner, premium raffles, and – of course – spectacular dancing entertainment.
Cat Country’s Morning Show Co-Host, Amanda Leonardo, will be the mistress of ceremonies, alongside the master of ceremonies and professional dancer, Rob Glover. The 2014 doctors will perform the opening act and the Studio One RI Dance Team will provide special entertainment throughout the evening.
The professional judges will be awarding trophies for “Most Entertaining,” “Best Technical Skills” and the “People’s Choice” award. The "People's Choice" mirror ball trophy will be awarded to the couple that raises the most votes ($10 per vote). Please click here to vote for your favorite doctor! In addition to the trophy (and bragging rights), each winner will receive a pair of tickets to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man/Woman of the Year Grand Finale event on Saturday, May 17that the Newport Hyatt Hotel (a $250 value).
100% of the net proceeds from the event will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the world's largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
